Preparing for Your Henna Hair Coloring Appointment
To ensure the best results for your herbal henna hair coloring, please follow these preparation steps:

  • Cleanse Your Hair: Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo to remove any oils, dirt, or residue. Ensure it is completely dry before your appointment.
  • Avoid Additional Products: Do not use conditioner, oils, hair sprays, or other products, as these can interfere with the henna and herbal dyes, preventing proper staining.
  • Bring a Scarf: After your treatment, we will cover your hair with a shower cap. Since henna requires a few hours to set, you’ll need to rinse it out at home. Bringing a scarf to wrap over the cap will help protect it. If you forget, we have scarves available for purchase.

Thank you for preparing ahead to ensure a smooth and effective henna coloring experience!

Are henna and indigo permanent colors?

Yes, the henna and indigo we use are premium quality, ensuring the highest standards available. Both are permanent colors that grow out with your hair. While the color may fade slightly over time, regular touch-ups keep your hair vibrant and healthy.

•Full Hair Color: Reapply every 3-4 months to maintain conditioned, radiant results.

•Root Touch-Ups: Apply every 3-4 weeks for light or gray roots to keep your color consistent.

We offer free hair consultations and strand tests to ensure the perfect match before your final application. Let us guide you toward healthy, naturally colored hair!

Does henna, indigo and other herbal hair colors cover grey hair?

Yes, our natural herbal hair colors, including henna and indigo, cover gray hair exceptionally well. However, gray hairs may appear slightly lighter than the rest of your hair after the first application. For a more uniform color, multiple applications may be needed.

Many clients enjoy the subtle variations in shade that result from coloring gray hair, as it creates a natural, multi-tonal effect. For the best solution tailored to your hair, we recommend scheduling a consultation with us.

Can henna be dyed over chemically colored hair?

Yes, henna can be safely applied over chemically colored hair. Its natural properties enhance and condition your hair, giving it a healthy, vibrant look.

If I dont like the color after applying the henna/indigo, can I dye a chemical color over it?

To avoid any disappointment, we strongly recommend doing a strand test before coloring your entire hair. If you’re unhappy with the results, a potential solution is reapplying a different herbal shade to adjust the color.

However, applying chemical dye over henna-treated hair can be challenging. Henna forms a protective barrier around the hair shaft, sealing it and preventing foreign particles from easily entering. This is why hennaed hair often appears shinier and healthier.

Important Note: We do not recommend bleaching or lifting henna color with chemicals. Lifting henna requires the use of a very strong developer, which can severely damage your hair. To learn more, please refer to our article: Top 10 Myths About Henna for additional insights.

At our core, we believe in eliminating chemicals, toxins, and allergens from daily life, which is why we’ve developed natural and healthier hair care solutions. If you’re still unsatisfied and prefer to use chemical dye, we recommend consulting an experienced hair colorist. They can perform a strand test to determine the best approach before applying any chemical dye to your entire hair.

Is there such thing as too much henna/indigo?

Unlike chemical dyes, which can damage your hair with repeated use, our natural hair colors are incredibly nourishing and can be applied as often as needed. Each application rejuvenates your hair, making it shinier, stronger, and healthier over time.

However, it’s important to note that with repeated use, the color may become progressively darker. This gradual deepening of the color is a natural effect of using henna and indigo, allowing you to build your desired shade over time while maintaining your hair’s health and vitality.
